To address the issues of high mortality rates and to contribute to the universal health coverage goal, CBI through her health program supports increased access to quality family planning and reproductive health services, immunizations, polio eradication, malaria prevention and maternal health services. We work with the Government of Nigeria, UN agencies and other implementing partners to build health resilience by strengthening the primary health care system and focusing efforts on prevention, detection, and treatment. Our activities take place throughout Northeast and Northwest Nigeria and have successfully reached over 100,000 community members.
Our health programs are designed to address a wide array of health challenges faced by communities in Nigeria. These programs are focused on improving access to healthcare, enhancing maternal and child health, controlling infectious diseases, and promoting mental health and psychosocial support. These health initiatives are tailored to meet the specific needs of the communities they serve, ensuring that interventions are culturally appropriate and effective.
Key Focus areas:
- Maternal and Child Health (MCH)
CBI prioritizes maternal and child health to reduce mortality rates and improve health outcomes for mothers and children. Programs under MCH include antenatal and postnatal care, immunization campaigns, and education on nutrition and hygiene practices. These initiatives aim to ensure safe pregnancies, healthy births, and proper child development. - Primary Health Care (PHC)
Primary health care is a cornerstone of CBI’s health strategy. By supporting and strengthening local health systems, we ensure that basic health services are accessible to all. This includes the provision of medical supplies, training of health workers, and establishment of health outposts in remote areas. - Infectious Disease Control
CBI actively works to control and prevent the spread of infectious diseases such as malaria, tuberculosis, and HIV/AIDS. This is achieved through health education campaigns, distribution of preventive tools (like insecticide-treated bed nets), and facilitating access to diagnostic and treatment services. - Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS)
Recognizing the importance of mental health, CBI provides psychosocial support to individuals affected by conflict, displacement, and other traumas. This includes counseling services, support groups, and community-based mental health education. - Health Education and Promotion
Health education is a critical component of CBI’s approach to enhancing he health of communities. By conducting community outreach and awareness campaigns, we educate individuals on key health issues, promoting behavior changes that lead to better health outcomes. Topics covered include hygiene, disease prevention, reproductive health, and nutrition.

Our health programs have had profound impact on several communities in the Northeast and Northwest. Through partnerships with national and international organizations, CBI has expanded its reach, delivering critical health services to thousands of individuals in Northeast and Northwest Nigeria. These efforts have not only provided immediate relief but have also contributed to long-term health improvements.
